Kinda elegant, rather sensual fruity/vanilla/woodsy magical potion that has some good staying power. One full spray on the neck and you're good for hours and hours.

This is probably the third best Givenchy fragrance behind both Xeryus Rouge and Gentlemen. Although, I would like to say they are all very different scents, especially Xeryus Rouge, which is arguably the most unique cologne in my possession. Pi is what I would consider to be an evening fragrance meant to be worn sparingly, and with confidence. It is a very long-long lasting cologne and has wonderful sillage. The fragrance is sweet and woody (vanilla), and shares similar characteristics with both Obsession (although Obsession is warmer and contains MUCH more benzoin), and Allure (Allure being more along the lines of cedar and cinnamon with minimal vanilla). So, if Pi doesn't exactly tickle your fancy, either of those should depending on your destination on the oriental spectrum.

I regret selling the bottle I had a few years back. This is one of smoothest and longest lasting wood based fragrances ever made. It's also subtle, yet very noticeable at the same time, if that makes any sense. After the classic Gentleman, this is easily their next best mans fragrance. It lasts a loooong time too. Trust me guys (and girls), this is a truly exceptional scent for being a commercial fragrance, and it's still being sold at stores. Oh, go with the original yellow fragrance. The blue colored summer scent doesn't last nearly as long. 5 BIG stars. --chris

i really wanted to like this scent on my husband as it was a gift to him from his mom, but after weeks of trying i just gave up & begged him to throw it away. Perhaps women are attracted to the baby powder scent i find overwhelming? & baby powder on a man in bed is a major turn off, feels so revolting! YUCK. & i've never met anyone that smelled good who was wearing it. Let your woman smell before you buy too or you may be on your own at night.

All my boyfriend has to do is put this on - and I know we are going to have a GREAT night... if you know what I mean. It drives me crazy!! I just wish I could find a fragrance that makes him feel that way when I put it on.

A couple of years ago I rated PI as a 1 and loathed it. Today, it's far and away one of my favorite fragrances. Go figure! I LOVE it today. Goes to show that a nose can mature with an open-mind. Lots of positive feedback as well! I thought that one of the negatives to wearing PI was that it was too thick and heavy, cloying. That's not the case at all. It has perfect longevity and does not over take a room with its sillage.

Had a second date with a man on Sat....I asked him what he was wearing....he said "Pi." DIVINE. There will be a third.

I loved Pi when I first bought it, and after a month I couldn't handle it anymore and sold it. Very one-dimensional vanilla scent that doesn't change at all during the drydown. All you need is about 1/2 of a spray to last all day. Now when I smell it on people I gag

that could be unisex that isn't sold here that is difficult to find is called Sergio Soldano Black for Men. I came across it in Italy in the 80s while in the Navy. It utterly blew me away. Spicy and warm and the drydown is so pleasant. I actually had dreams about it I was trying to find it so hard. If it's not discontinued it's worth trying to find it. There is a sweetness to it that women would appreciate. I noticed Sergio Soldano for women is sold here but I've never smelled the woman's version, but the men's Black bottle is just great (yeah I know this has nothing to do with Pi which I adore).

Good stuff here. I think this stuff is somewhat overrated. I mean it smells good and lasts, but simply not all that sexy. It has a very "hot" smell to it. I think this is the 3rd or 4th best Givenchy, at best. This legendary design house - PI is solid, but the juice is not amazing.

Found a 15ml of this on sale so thought id buy if for my son, but his reaction was 'im not wearing that old man stuff' thought okay give it to hubby, he didnt like it either so i used it to spray my dog after her bath, the smell hypnotised me, it was wonderful reminded me of Indecence which is discontinued so now its mine and the dogs! Very sweet scent but if you love Vanilla this is for you... The lasting power is incredible this is liable to last a day or more. I sprayed very little on my arm before I bought it and 4 hrs later... The scent smells like I just sprayed it BUT in drydown form which is very very pleasing. It could be uni-sex but I wouldnt recommend this to women.. still slightly too masculine. I also love the bottle... It is beautiful. Just like the smell..

Very sweet. I like it, but think it's a *little* to heavy on the vanilla. Sweet is good, but for a men's cologne, I like "sweet with an edge", if you know what I mean. Generally, if I can wear it, I don't want to smell it on my man. It's more of a cozy smell than a sexy one - to me.

A friend of mine had a bottle in his washroom. I decided to try it. Great bottle, one of the best! I detected vanilla, vanilla, and more vanilla. Then nothing after about 2 hours. I would not purchase a bottle on my own. This cool weather scent is very warm and sensual. Vanilla lovers take note!

I have a love/hate relationship with this scent. I think that it really smells great but it is a little too sweet and feminine for my personal taste. Really strong vanilla scent that once again smells great. A little too feminine but has a warm dry down and it lasts a long time. Now the love relationship with Pi is that women go nuts over this stuff and that is the real reason why we should wear most of these colognes to begin with. So with that being said, I recommend Pi. It's very good to have a beautiful stranger of the opposite sex look you in the eyes and tell you that you smell so good she could eat you up. I love this scent - it is so delicious, vanilla and coconut etc. but is very sweet and should be a woman's perfume. I might just buy it for myself. I wish they had marketed it as a unisex scent and put it in a less masculine bottle.

First I didnt think this one was for men....thought its a bit too sweet for men, but I havent smelled any on a man, so I leave that open. So I bought this one for myself, and I like it a lot. Its sweet and a bit musky/sexy. Very nice, warm scent. Try it and see it to yourself ;)

This has become my new favorite cologne. It has a very spicy fragrance, which seems to work well with me. Women seem to love it.

In this case too, there is an EDP version in a 1.0 oz bottle. Its richer and more woody. My opinion: always go for EDP version if there is one; EDT are lower both in concentration AND ingredients. Just see the difference between Opium for men EDP and EDT.

This one smells nice , like cookies and biscuits just baked , and it wont hit anyone in the face. You might not rate it highly initially ..its an acquired taste.

Even though 4.5 stars is an amazing rating for any colonge, I've noticed that no girls really had anything bad to say about this cologne (Most went crazy over it)...All the bad ratings for this cologne were made by guys--You can check the ratings yourself. When I first bought this cologne, I had worries about the "sweetness" of it, But really now I know that that is only when u first spray it on...Once it dies down it has the luscious smell of vanilla and chocolate, and it is one of the longest lasting colognes I have ever had. But, be warned, 2 good sprays is what you need--No more than 3, please.

I think this particular fragrance screams just a little too loudly of vanilla for me. It basically smells like you bathed in vanilla bean water, which isn't a bad thing if you love smelling strongly of vanilla, but to me...it's just not all that apealing. It would be that much cheaper for me, to just put some of my vanilla extract that I bake with behind my ears and on my wrists every morning. I'd personally get sick if I was stuck in an office next to someone wearing this all day.

Loud scent, this sweet, fruity and vanilla-like aroma is. Can be used for just about any occasion whether the office, church, outdoors or everyday casual day and night. Has real good longevity and the bottle is a masterpiece.

This great fragrance smells nothing even remotely like Acqua di Gio at all and for Huggybear it's not the fragrance, it's just your son's body chemistry that's the problem that makes it smell horrible. Remember the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

For those of you who posted that it smells just like Aqua di Gio. I have both in my possession currently and there is a completely different scent for each. This one I would recommend more for a night outing where as Aqua Di Gio would be more of an everyday type scent. A++ for both styles

I bought PI when we travled to Alaska for my wife. I thought it was ladys. When I bought the second bottle at home the person at the store said a lot of women use it. I love it on my wife.

Went to the mall and tested frags with my son. He sprayed some on and nearly was yaking up his lunch a while later. The juice smelled like burnt marshmellows or some burnt synthetic rubber. Even reminded me of surgeon gloves, you know the latex smell. Will pass on the pie. Kudos to those who can pull it off.

Highly unique and very fruity aroma from popular Givenchy was an instant classic from the first day it was released and is probably one of the top ten most popular colognes ever created for a man in my opinion. Longlasting and I love the bottle design.

first i would like to thank this website for being there !! its sooo helpful and informative where perfumes are concerned that you can almost confidently buy fragrances based on the range of reviews here which are so explicit as to what one can expect from the fragrances ! i decided to give pi a shot after most reviews mentioned 'women love it',as well as the ingredients that tell you a woman can use this too.so...... i went and got myself a men's cologne instead of my usual buy of the ladies version. ITS GOOD !! the initial spray gives you an overdose of vanilla but as you allow the frgrance to settle it turns really nice. best part is it is still on you 24 hrs later and yet its not overpowering along the way !!NICE!!

I was in the mall last week testing out a few new colognes. I sprayed Pi on one wrist (I was wearing a long sleeved dress shirt) and Joop Jump on the other. I'd sniff one wrist and then the other, and even eight hours later they had both dried down awesomely and were still very active. The masculine vanilla appeal of the Pi was overwhelming, gotta go back for some of that. Definitely will attract the ladies. The Jump was pretty good too, it'd be a tight scent to wear while shooting some hoops (for real!).

Yeah, you're right.... this is still one of the best I have found. I tried it again and somehow I liked it a lot better than before. My favorite is still Dreamer by Versace (green fragrance), but I occasionally wear acqua di gio (still the best citrusy cologne there is), and now I wear Pi on occasion if I want that sweet vanilla smell, which it excels at.

I don't know what it is, but this cologne smells like a mix of baby powder and a touch of vanilla on me. I gave it a chance to dry-down but the scent was actually annoying me so I washed it off soon after. I thought I liked sweet, but I guess I was wrong.... this is not the cologne for you if you like "green" or "citrusy" fragrances. I just don't see what all the fuss is over this expensive cologne. The ladies may like it but if I can't stand wearing it, I won't wear it, haha.

Hey, you claimed that you have over 40 colognes in a previous post. Most colognes have a 30 month shelf life, so i'm wondering what you are going to do say 3-4 years from now, are you going to buy all 40+ colognes again after they go dead? Well, I don't know much about math, but I know what I like . This one is the brainchild of Alberto Morillas who also created M7 and 212. (Does this guy have a thing for numbers?) PI is an oriental/ ambery which is both masculine and romantic--unlike, Pepe I woudn't quite say it's a combo of Roma and Le Male but his point is well taken :) Yes, I still like Minotaure and Bvlgari Black better, but that's a question of taste. I highly recommend PI , especially in a world crawling with vanilla based scents which don't work. This one does. Alberto's come up with another 5 star winner. Get it!

I was looking for a good scent, bought this, and it exceeded expectations, nice and smooth (if used properly, 1-2 sprays does it) I'm a smoker, and it mixes good with the tobaco smell if you believe it. But the best part women drool over it. If your a guy, looking for that kind of attention from women, and who isn't, get it.

For a different kind of oriental try Vera Wang. Other top orientals in my collection are Jaipur, Dunhill, and Dunhill Desire Red. I don't know if it can be classified as an oriental, but Minotaur is a unique scent (currently my favorite).

Sometimes age matters when it comes to fragrances. I am 22 and got a bottle of Pi for Christmas. i must say that it does smell good. And it does not smell feminine to me. There is something in it that smells like vanilla with a touch of chocolate and deodorant. However it bores me.This to me would be for someone who is a little bit older and trying to find an erogenous scent. Pi does have the marshmallowy smell in it like JPG Le Male and possibly Hanae Morie although I havent smelled Hanae Mori (they said it was to feminine). Le Male had a stange smell in at first that would not seem to dry down so I returned it. On other people it has a nice light blue clean vanilla smell. Then I bought French connection and now it smells like McDonald's bathroom soap mixed with Dr. Pepper. Then I bought Portfolio Green which has the same strange smell in it as Le Male but with a more subtle drydown. I am still looking for a sexy sensual oriental cologne but can't find one. Can someone please help me before I end up buying every cologne out there!?????????????? Anyways keep it safe with Pi because those other ones are offensive. Also when choosing a cologne spray it lightly and also wait for the drydown. People are to quick to judge a cologne on first spray.

I recently smelled Pi EDP, it's a bit richer and woodier than the regular Pi EDT, but overall, it's pretty much the same. If you can get your hands on a bottle of EDP, then get it fast.

If you took Le male and Roma and mixed them together you'd get Pi. Vy nice scent as you can smell Roma and Le Male in the notes.

Buy Pi. There are other EDTs that have the vanilla keynote, but Pi is the best of the lot.

Go sparingly with this product. As with some others, can understand headaches. Smell must be vanilla. Once read vanilla and cinnamon are super aphrodisiacs to women. Pi is wonderful. It lasts longer!

I heard young girls talking about this and how they liked it awhile back, so naturally i figured it was probably fruity and not for me. Well i just tried it and even though i went in prejudiced, i must say this is a good cologne. It is not offensive at all. Yet it is still very warm and very masculine, with a bit of something a bit sweeter i can't describe that makes you just wanna eat it (i hope girls feel the same way with me wearing it). I am in the market for a nice warm inviting cologne and i think i found a winner in Pi.

A keeper. I think it is the best smelling cologne in my collection (I have over 20 as of 12-16-04). It not as versatile as I like a cologne to be, but when I wear it I feel good.

A vanilla scent is very evident in this cologne. Very similar to "By" by Dolce & Gabbana. Nice cologne overall.

After alot of research, I choose this among a few others (Platinum Egotiste, Cool Water, Aqua di Gio). This is my personal favorite. It is masculine, sophisticated and sweet (for the ladies). It lasts long as well which is important.

okay this is an personal experience i went to macys and was testing cologne's and heard of pi but never knew anything about it other then it was an good cologne i sprayed it twice on my neck and an tiny dap behind each ear i was on my way back home and was on the trolly and this beautiful girl comes and sits right next to me and after about 2 mins she leans over and asks me if i was wearing any cologne i told her yes and well lets just put it this way this stuff is really good so i went stright back and bought the bottle i had to have it.

This is strong stuff. Use with care. Easy to overdose. But if you use this with skill it will do you no harm. Pi will get you high up there. Spicy, vanilla in there somewhere, God knows what else. If you know you can handle spicy perfumes check this out the next time. It is the spiciest fragrance known to man. If you are a plain grey office-guy stay clear. The originality of it makes this excellent.

I bought this for my husband before we were married. He was not really into fragrance, having only worn his father's old spice on "special occasions." I think fragrance is sooo important and it really becomes your signature. My father used to wear Bay rum from Abercrombie and Fitch and this reminds me a little of that. My husband fell in love with it and it suits him precisely. I don't smell it often on other people. I'm glad, really, because then it truly belongs to my man!

First, one thing is absolutely obvious: If you use this too much, it will turn against you. That´s for sure. And it´s actually dangerous: Use this too much and you might see people throwing up around you, or at least getting very pale. But: If you use this well, it´s one of the refined fragrances out there. A lot of people think this fragrance is a little too sweet. You only notice the strong sweet smell at first spray, if you really wait for the dry-down, you'll notice an aromatic woody smell, it's one of a kind, i dont know anything like it, yet the woody notes in the middle are so distinct from the rest. This cologne is not very popular, that might be a good thing, once you do have this amazing fragrance on, the ladies would be all over you. So, dont let the vinilla fool you, it will be there, but it really turns into an exotic woody fragrance if you have patience, watch for the wonders!

This is definitely not the best cologne on this god's earth, but i can certainly say that it is one of the most romantic out there. The Vinilla notes are very pleasant, gives you a sweeter touch. One important note though, 2 spray of this stuff is more than enough, anything more than that is a disaster. This cologne last the longest so far, truly amazing.

This is one of the best colognes I have ever smelt or or worn. Its so sweet, and the vanilla notes are amazing. It is not overpowering, I find it best for Formal and romantic occasions. It is quite spicy.

Why are some colognes recommended for day wear and others for night wear? I'd hate to have the "fashion" police come and arrest me? Does it really make much of a difference? Pi and Organza Indescense both by Givenchy! Indescense is the women's version. Hint of Vanilla with some prescious woods and spices. Dries down real nice!

I was pleasantly surprised with this scent. I was searching for an aftershave for my father when I tried this. I was skeptical because the vanilla was so predominant (albeit not overwhelmingly so) in the beginning, and although my father doesn't really seem to have a signature scent (he usually uses whatever is given to him as a gift, etc.), I couldn't see him as a vanilla scent type of person. After I had tried several others though, I kept coming back to this one. The vanilla was still clearly there but had become tempered, more "masculine" by the woody, herbal notes. I couldn't believe how complex and non-sweetly pleasing a vanilla scent could be. My father reacts exactly the same way to any gift he receives (a 'you shouldn't have' type of reaction), so I can't comment on how he feels about this scent, but I was very happy with my purchase; ultimately all gift giving is also a vicarious self-fulfillment. =) Now, after this eye-opener on vanilla scents, I'm on the search for a perfect woman's scent for myself with a complex vanilla note.

Is there a women's perfume from Givenchy or other designers that resembles Pi? I'm looking for something with a vanilla scent but with other notes that add to its complexity. (I don't like Angel.) I love Pi and how its initial slightly sweet vanilla dries down to a sexy, woody finish, and would love to find a female version of this.

This is a very different scent. I think it has a deep chocolate smell with some vanilla hints. But the vanilla is not as noticable like in LAGUNA by Dali, which is a cologne I love. PI reminded me of ANGEL, because of the strong chocolate scent. Very different and very special, I think it has a place in someone's collection of scents. A warm scent, not fresh at all. Great for colder days, I suppose. I hope to have this cologne myself.

It's a nice oriental cologne, it smells good. I still think that Sculpture and Rochas Man are a little bit better though, but this is good.

It smells great havent wore it in public yet but I do think it smells a little girly for a mans cologne but hey if the ladies love it Ill keep it.

This is too feminine for my taste, and I like some colognes that others have called too feminine. This one is way over the top! The vanilla scent is much to strong. It smells like cotton candy.

I find Pi Fraiche a bit lighter while not sacrificing the general "feel" of Pi, the original so it's also more apropos for the summer months. It's not quite as dark and yummy smelling as orig. Pi.

I LOVE this scent (I'm female) and I wear it as my standard winter scent. It warms up on the body and blends very nicely and I adore its chocolatey undertones. It doesn't hurt that women find it irresistable too.

This and PI Fraiche are very similar, PI Fraiche lasts longer and not quite as sweet, all I know is my wife loves it!

I absolutley LOVE the smell of this scent on any man! Sure it's a little sweet smelling, but that's why it has us gals chomping at the bit at just the smell! Very very arousing scent!

Sex is better? Kidding. Not many things to me. I love this on men, Desire, Dreamer by Versace or Roma by Laura Biagiatti. Have you tried Roma? It is unique and really unworn by many. Try Opium also. But all in all you be your own judge.

Hey, try out Versace Dreamer or Sculpture by Nikos. Which was also approved in a previous post. Jaipur is also a good cologne you should check out.

My recommandations are Allure, Sculpture or perhaps Casran but in my opinion Pi is a very longlasting scent.

Pi is a superb fragrance! It smells like some warm and wonderfully delicious pie filling. Pi is a great fragrance, and the bottle it's in is handsome too.

I wouldn't say Alfred Dunhill has notes of vanilla in it, I think it does, but the Neroli and apple notes are so strong, you wouldn't be able to smell the vanilla in it. trust me, I own Alfred Dunhill and you wont smell a note of vanilla init, it is too sharp, And I am a vanilla lover..Hope my advice was good, peace

I have tried several fragrances at the stores and found that some of them are very very similar. For example Givenchy Pi = Escada Casual Friday = Ted Lapidus "Ted". All they have such sweet vanilla scent. Can anyone name others similar?

Very good scent! I like Fraiche version even more. Very longlast scent so 2 or 3 vaporizations abundant. If you like, try also Nikos Sculpture in this category.

There is nothing 'played out' about Pi. The fragrance is a classic and will have the same staying power as say Dior's Eau Savage. Pi holds its own and surpasses most fragrances, be they more or less expensive. Use your own judgment before purchasing anything based on the naivette, prejudice or ignorance of some of the posts on this website.

This cologne is somewhat nice. Then again, I have over 40 colognes, it wouldn't stand a chance again my other expensive colognes. Anyway, to the 2.34 poster: if you meant 2.34 was pi, then my friend, you are too ignorant and need to go back to school. Everyone SHOULD know that pi is 3.141592 on top of their heads. People are right, Americans are not very good in math...hehe...

I recommend this scent to the man who desires an alternative scent from the many musky brut scents that are in the market. This scent is very diversive. Can be used professionally as well as for those intimate moments. On a note of advice, I offer the following: Man and woman alike should always try a scent out prior to purchasing. Each individual's body chemistry can have a profound impact on the true scent of the cologne/perfume. To offer an example: When I wear PI, it agrees with my body's chemistry. Hence, not altering the scent at all. A friend of mine wanted to try mine before he purchased it. Thank God he did! The results were that of cat urine! YUK! Happy cologne shopping!

PI is definitely one of my favorites, not really a summer fragrance but the fresh (blue) version of this is lighter and may work better for warmer weather. But this stuff is the bomb, very noticable.

Hey Man, My original opinion of the Pour Homme was about the same as yours.....Nothing Special. Then I obtained a few miniature sample spray-ons of the stuff which I mainlined thougout the day. Now, as Davy Jones once sang: "I'm a Believer"! This stuff will grow on you, tear at your psyche, regenerate your aging DNA, make your bottle-conditoned beer and single-malt Scotch taste even better, and win the hearts of women everywhere. Bro, give it another try, you won't be disappointed. The soul of Givenchy resides in this magnificent fragrance. And do try the Salvador Dali, if you haven't already. Gentlemen, add Pi to the list of Givenchy classics. I finally got around to buying some, and I must say that it is a typically unique and classic Givenchy fragrance. Of course, I'm prejudiced. I love almost everything by Givenchy on the men's side. GENTLEMAN is as good as it gets. Pour Homme is outstanding. Xeryus is a time-bomb for the romantically inclined. And now Pi! What a great, masculine, ballsy fragrance. Really dig this stuff. I bought the EDT and Splash-On Aftershave combo, and chicks twenty years my junior (I'm 45) are telling me I'm on fire. Gents, sacraligious as this may sound, do a little layering with Pi and anything for men by Salvador Dali, and wait for the fireworks! And buy the Hanae Mori Yellow for your lady, it's the best kept secret in the world. Cheers and beers, boys & girls!

I liked Pi from the moment I first smelled it. Different isn't it? Pi Fraiche smells just about the same to me as Pi. I don't see much difference. Overall a wonderful, alive fragrance. Nothing is for everyone but this one is one for me. Nice addition to the collection.

I got a bottle of this last night. I remember when it first came out I didn't know what to think of it. I went to Dillard's and got it. They tried to promote the new Givenchy pour homme to me which was nice but nothing special. Pi is truly exotic and is a fragrance more suited for nite use but I'll wear it whenever.It has a woody oriental scent and a first note of vanilla which is quite strong. This is a very sexy scent as well and lasts a long long time which everyone likes. I like this even more then Xeryus Rouge. They also had a Pi that was a bluish color. I have no idea what that one was..must be that Pi fresh?

Pi just has to be considered a modern classic even though it's only a few years old. It's a bit sweet, BUT very warm and masculine. Try the spray deodorant. On its own, the spray is like a great dose of the Pi Cologne. For those who like the very best in scents, give this one a try. josh

It's very wierd for me to go from something so strong and spicy as Sung by Alfred Sung to Pi by Givenchy. It's somewhat of a feminine scent but that's because of the slight vanilla undertones (I love it when women where vanilla, maybe that's why I think of it as being a little feminine). Overall, I think its a wonderful scent and a must have!

I'm usually drawn to 'clean-smelling'men, but this is an exception. Wow! It's wondefully different from everything I've seen. One might even say it's effeminte, but I think it's great. If you're looking for something different, perhaps in the Oriental family, try this one.
