Very good smell.
My wife and I really don't like this one on me, it's very soapy or powdery.
I have an original bottle from 1976 the new age Paco rabanne doesn't compare to the vintage when they change the bottles I'm sure they changed the formula.
Old man
This is a little more powdery than my husband likes but the other notes seem to balance it out thru the day.
smells good but not as strong
Smells like shaving cream to me.
Very unpleasant to begin with, but mellowed into a wonderfully full, musky scent
Most unpleasant fragrance I have came across. Both my wife & I found it off putting. It might have descent longevity. I applied 1 spray to wrist to sample scent. I washed my wrist several times trying to get rid of smell & could still smell it on me.
Not for me. Smells like an inexpensive knock off scent trying to be Aqua di Gio but never really made it close.
Classic gentleman. Light and easy to wear. Green, citrus, musk. Very pleasant.
Classic and fresh, becomes subtle yet lasts. Have always liked it.
Smells like a horrible forest.
I should point out, this was just not for me. It is a VERY feminine scent. My wife compared it to perfumes her sister wore. It does have a nice odor but definitely falls into a MUCH more feminine scent structure than a unisex or masculine scent. The best way to describe it is floral and powdery like what you would smell in an older grandmothers home.
not for someone that trying to be youthful or smell youthfull
like how masculine this smell is
This is one of the all time great scent from back in the 80s, Paco Rabanne has always been a door opener, weather you coming in from outside, or riding in a elevator, one of the first things you will here while wearing this is "What is the name of that cologne you are wearing?" this scent still has that type of pull.
Awful. Seriously do not buy this unless you have one foot in the grave. Smells ancient.
This is, hands-down, the strongest cologne I have tried through Scentbox! Wow! It's crazy strong! It has a heavy musk component, mixed with something like cedar and cloves/nutmeg. It's a pleasant smell, but a bit heavy on the musk for me. It reminds me of a cologne my father (a Baby Boomer) used to wear. There's nothing wrong that. It just strikes me as a very "manly man" cologne, like, I could picture Magnum PI (for those who get that reference) wearing this cologne. Or, for the younger generation, this is the perfect cologne for Captain America (i.e., Chris Evans) to wear. Bold! Musky! And super strong!
Nice scent but strong alcohol smell at first spray
One of my all time favorite old school smells! Highly recommended for any real man!
Classics do anything scent
Smells too strong. Reminds me of my 81-year-old grandpa.
Not that great. I wouldn't recommend it.
The sent wasn't that great. It didn't really last too long and faded quickly.
Compared to the other two Paco scents I tried, this one is the only disappointment. I give 3 stars due to the fact that the scent itself is a good one. It just is not meant to be worn by anyone younger than the age of 75. Nothing wrong with it, just not for most.
Awful scent.
Smells like a old bar soap that was found in a rubble of the Great War. It smells like you we woke up old. It’s strong and Very old school. Even after waiting for the scent to open it was still bad. I would feel bad to use it as air refresher. If you like fresh and pretty smells this isn’t for you. You have be at least 90 years old to use it.
Smells very masculine
Always loved it ... Always will.
this is one ot the best colognes o the 1000's i wear, good job guy.
Excellent!
Sexy!!!
I still have a little bit left in a bottle I bought in 1978 - I was 19 then. I recently bought the newest version but it has been updated with a musky or woody tones. Not as powdery as it used to be. Does anyone know if one can still buy the old fragrance?
The initial top notes had a powdery, soapy smell, which I do not like. After it settles down to the base notes, it is good.
I find nothing redeemable for this fragrance. It is very dated and smells like something that might have been popular during the very early 70's - think hairy chest, gold chains and polyester leisure suits. Sorry no guy my age would even be interest in this stinker! Maybe my father would wear this but even he is hip to the times...
I was introduced to this eternal heavenly men's fragrance in my late teen, probably 19, by an old girl-friend. That girl knew every trendy contraption that had ever been made! ... Little did I know at the time, it turned out to be the most sought after men's fragrance in the history of post-cave male homisapians! ... I only buy it in the 1000ml volume; that is 33.8 OZ. I never shave unless I have big mama (1000ml bottle) next to me. Without a doubt, this is one of the best men's fragrances women love to smell on a man. If you don't have it, you are not a rabanne man.
Im not sure or what, but it seems they may have changed this stuff, i got some of this in 1984 when i was 19 and it seemed to smell differently as far as memory serves, but it is still very good, very fresh and clean
Indeed this is reformulated, unfortunately. It would be really nice to find the vintage item. I am sure an older bottle is still potent. I do not like how the perfumers are adding all of these other ingredients. What was wrong with perfume and alcohol?
if they changed the original formula or not but i do know this is not for the faint or weak. very strong citrus and lavender done well.
This was the first men's fragrance that really got my attention when I was in high school. My boyfriend wore it and I couldn't get enough of the smell - fabulously sexy and masculine. I haven't smelled it recently, so not sure if the formula's been changed (sad, if it has), but I will always remember my first sniff of Paco!
I wore this back in the 80s and thought it was very special. Its sillage used to be impressive with a very pleasing fresh tobacco note. I'm revisiting it and its appeal is still there, bringing back good memories of army life when I was a young conscript. A classic that makes a middle-aged chap feel 20. It's got character without the stuffiness of some juices the same age. And it's devoid of that nasty synthetic note so common in the drydown of many modern juices...like Magnetism, Gaultier Fleur du Male, etc. Rabanne, you go old-timer!
This is the Best mans scent out there!fresh,clean...strong and sensual! It is a classic ,and only a real man with elegantand classy taste would find it appealing...I hardly smell it out shopping or anywhere..Guess no men out there? I have purchased it for my husband for years...And all I can say...When he wears it,it makes him smell like a real man...and it brings the real woman out in me..it is intoxicating So men..if you want to drive a woman wild...put it on...All over!! And watch what happens..Magic!haha
This stuff is great. Not quite in my "Magical" category, but pretty close and a nice alternative.
well what i say about this cologne.i sometimes think that this cologne is only and only created for me cause its just according to my nature.i cant explain the feeling i have when i use this scent.it makes me happy , bring out old memories, makes me fresh and lively and makes me feel and tells me that im a man.i never had a better lively feeling full of courage and enthusiam without pacco rabanne.i will never ever leave this cologneand i can pay any price for this cologne just to have a sniff.u ppl may disagree what i said but this is me and i love this smell.its a part of ma life now
people who rated this cologne very low may have a bad taste in colognes or maybe have bad body chemistry or actually they like woman kinda smell. paco rabanne is totally masculance elegance. i love thjis cologne from the sniff i had.and continue buying this.its very unique smell not very common and i warn u all this one is not for every guy out there so think before purchasing this classic.
I bought my first bottle on a whim at an OSCO drug store in Minot, ND while attending college in 1980. I have never purchased any other brand since! It is the only fragerance that perfectly blended with my chemestry and was still there with a hint at the end of the day, no matter how many times I washed my face.
This cologne is awesome! I picked up my first bottle in South Korea and I have not purchased any other cologne since.
This scent is the most balanced fragrance I've ever tried. Not too sweet or dry, perfect anytime of the year. It easily competes with any of the new fragrances, most of which lack the character and distinctiveness of Paco.
This was the first mens fragrance for myself and it meant I was "grown up". This scent was rich, refreshing, and sexy. I went away from it in the 1990s as newer scents evolved. I found my old bottle was empty and decided to get a new one. The packaging had changed and the price increased. I decided to test it first, luckily! This was not the same favorite I new and grew to love like a my father. This was a cruel stepfather that burned my nose! I thought it was a bad batch, so I tried again. No luck! If you run a fashion house and decide to change the formula of a classic fragrance, please change your label and make a formal announcement! I will miss my former favorite! The only thing close to the original is Versace L'homme...
Paco is not the same cologne it was. the fragrance has definately changed. My brother was who first turned to PR in 1998, But we both agree that the recent bottles purchased are different. The fragrance does'nt change in the dry down, it just stays the same as when it first hits the skin, somethings missing... I now only where oil versions of Paco, they smell great.
im assuming this has become a classic ..but it's yucky my husband of 16 years he thinks it smells good on him..NOT...he has a warped sense of smell. even his little girls think it smells gross.
This has stood the test of time. I know people's tastes change, but if something smells good, it smells good. This is very luxurious smelling, very rich, warm, green, and damn sexy. It's also quite versatile, another plus. One of the top 10 of all time without question.
I saw the new box and different color of Paco Rabanne, but have they done anything to the ingredients or just the color ? The new color is more golden and box is no longer green foil, but can someone compare the old with the new to see if the fragrance is changed. I do love this fragrance.
A classic. First class no matter the pedigree or price. Use the slightest amount for sexiest effect.
Nothing to write home about, all I could smell was Grapefruit, reminded me of Gold, and that's very poor.
i've been in Paris recently. Everytime I wear this scent it reminds me this magic town. A part of this memory, I've to say that it's a great stuff. Not for all anyway. Enjoy, taste it!
THIS COLOGNE REMINDS ME OF A GOOD OLD VINTAGE BOTTLE OF WINE. IT'S TRUE THIS FRAGRANCE WAS INTRODUCED IN THE '70'S, TRU CLASSIC. I GOT MY FIRST BOTTLE WHEN I WAS 17 YEARS OLD, BACK IN THE EIGHTIES....LOVED THE SMELL. SMELLS VERY MASCULINE & SEXY. VERY STRONG UNIQUE SMELL, LIKE NOTHING ELSE ON THE MARKET. I RECOMMEND WEARING ONLY TINY FEW DROPS, ANYTHING MORE WILL POISON THE AIR AROUND YOU. WEARING THIS TO THE CLUB WILL LET PEOPLE CERTAINLY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ARRIVED. IT'S GREAT FOR WINTER, REMINDS ME OF OLD SCHOOLS YEARS, PURE NASTALGIA.
What do they put in this stuff? After spraying was nearly at first base - thought it was YAK!
A BONA FIDE HALL OF FAMER IN MY COLLECTION. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Always have close encounters when wearing this stuff. It's sex appeal is indisputable.
Paco Rabanne was THE HIT in the Seventies. A breathtaking crisp fragrance for men (gets the FiFi-Award!). Everybody love this great + crisp stuff. Now, over 30 years later, it's a classic. An "old-fashioned", nostalgic classy scent. Unique and not forgotten...
As we all know, every bar and club is filled with meterosexuals and the air is polluted with Acqua Di Gio and Issey Miyake. It takes a certain individual to pull off wearing Paco. It's not for kids that's for sure. I'm in my 30's and I get nothing but compliments from the ladies because it's a clean, yet masculine scent. Hard to believe a product the 1970's is still top notch.
This is a classic - i like it a lot (especially on cold days). Makes me think classy and formal for some reason. Some would say that its a bit old-fashioned, but i still think it smells nice... I guess its best on the 40+ crowd (im 31), so i feel a bit to young to wear it - thats why i only give it 4 out of 5. Whats your opinion on this - would really like to know!
I LIKE THIS SCENT, ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS RATHER ORDINARY AND A LITTLE PAST ITS TIME. IF YOU LIKE THE JUST HAVING THE CLEAN FEEL OF JUST GETTING OUT OF THE SHOWER IN THE MORNING, THIS IS THE COLOGNE FOR YOU.
Paco takes every other men's fragrance from the early 70's and drop-kicks them over the edge of the earth. When nearly everything was cloying, disgusting, and choked with patchouli and sandalwood, Paco was lighting the way to the future. And what good times we had!
This fragrance of paco is simply irresistible, only to be worn by the sophisticated men with real class.
As one can see by seeing my postings on other colognes, I am an old school guy. Nowadays colognes are too flowery, feminine. This stuff is manly. It is a masculine scent, that can be considered timeless. It smells a lot like Kouros, long lasting. A great scent that is very powerful, and totally masculine. Sweet and sexy. Very unique and woodsy.
This has been my signature scent for the past 25 years or so. I hardly use it now as my skin has become quite sensitive to it. Nevertheless,I still adore it and I always will.
I splashed some of this on in 1970 at the suggestion of a friend who told me that women loved it. Well, women hated it. I reeked. This one will go down in my book of scent experimentation before the age of 25.
this is for a real man not for sex but real passionate love making men ths one is my favorite no boys allowed only men apply then go to work ....it is real deep passionate stuff dont miss the chance to be a real man put this on!!!
A very unusual fragrance, it doesn't smell like anything else I've ever come across. It has an almost unique combination of "Masculine" and "Fresh." Which is rare, especially if you think of the more recent (late 80's to the present) stuff. Either they're masculine and sexy (think Fahrenheit), or they're fresh and unisexy (even if they're not explicitly marketed as unisex -- think Acqua di Gio), but not both. This one's both. Paco Rabanne starts off fresh and bold. (Go ahead and underline or italicize both those words in your mind, because I mean it. Fresh. And. Bold.) Then it becomes more masculine during the drydown as the fresh, almost soapy notes fade somewhat, and the spices wake up and say howdy. Look out. That's when it definitely becomes Not For The Kids. I can't see someone in highschool pulling this off. You've got to be at least in your late 20's, if not older. If you're a thirtysomething chap (such as myself) or older, you might want to give this one a try. (By the way, I don't mean to offend anyone reading this who's a young fellow, I just don't think you're going to attract any women your age with this stuff, I don't think young women would like this fragrance, but hey -- if you're into older women, give this one a shot!)
hOney should not be in fragrances. UGH!!!
I think the time for this passed. Much better less abrasive scents are out now.
When I was first dating my husband years ago he wore Pierre Cardin and sometimes English Leather. I've never been crazy about either one. One Christmas I decided to take a huge chance and I bought him a bottle of Paco Rabanne (which I adored) - and - he loved it! He wears it still today and also Armani.
This perfume is a classic. When you use to dance, your smell will be envolve all the environment. Everybody like it.
I have been using Paco Rabanne for over 20 years and haven't found a substitute.
I have been using Paco Rabanne for over 20 years and haven't found a substitute.
I bought this scent 15yrs ago. I agree initialy the smell is so strong, very masculine not the florly-girly type the new scents have. You either will love it or hate it, very unique.....
An old favourite.
i have a bottle of poco from the 70's. the new stuff i bought is a joke. and a bad one at that. they got some nerve. was one of my favorites.i have to rate it horrible because compared to the old stuff it is.
This one may be old, but it is truly exceptional. One of the best! Added bonus: Women always ask me what I am wearing, and compliment me on it.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THAT SMELL YOU GAVE US ALL !
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE! IT COULD STAND TO BE A LITTLE STRONGER, THOUGH.
My father used to wear this, and he'd receive compliments regularly. This is one of the most masculine scents out there - it's not acidic and wouldn't appeal to the young and immature. One of the nicest things about it is its versatility - it can be used for virtually any occasion. Although nearly thirty years old, this is a timeless classic and is not "dated". This is truly a Rolls Royce or Ferrari of the fragrance world.
One of the classics, a must have.
I've been using it for 10 yrs. Won't switch!
This is one of those fragrances that screams at the top of it's lungs when you first put it on. It's herbal, and I mean HERBAL. I always thought Kouros was herbal and soapy but this one has it beat. I love it like no other. It's so invigorating. There's nothing like spraying this on at 7 in the morning after a nice hot shower. It really wakes me up. Stays the entire day also. 2 thumbs up!
Phillip is right, this is a very clasic and exceptional parfume. I wore this colon and its a very rich and strong parfume. Not too strong, just about the right scent. I'd wear this for evening use and maybe for during the day, only if Im going to an elegant lunch or brunch with a group of people or maybe for a tea party.
These ladies have exceptional taste. Every woman I know with good taste loves Paco Rabanne. It is a classic, and suggests class and masculinity. Not for boys. The scent is unique, warm, rich, and above all, timeless. It is an extremely romantic scent, and certainly is not "run of the mill". Definitely for a classy and mature man. They don't make 'em like this anymore!!
HE WHO WEAR'TH THIS PERFUME AND WEAR'TH WELL HAVE MY UTMOST ATTENTION! NO VOLCANO CAN EXPLODE BETTER THAN A WOMAN WHO LOVES THE MAN IN THE PACO RABANNE PERFUME... IT'S AWESOME, REALLY...
I love the smell of Paco ! It is a scent that weaks up your sexual mine! When my husband wears it,he knows I`ll be by his side SOON !!!
