BDK Parfums
Gris Charnel Extrait de Parfum, concentrated at 30%, reveals the intensity of the original signature to extract a richer and more faceted version.
The woody essence of patchouli invites itself and brings depth to the sandalwood and tonka bean, which are revealed to be more textured and warmer. Gorgeous vanilla underlines this trail, with an ambery roundness and spiciness. At the top, the green and fruity accents of fig, and the freshness and vibrancy of an overdose of cardamom, illuminate the opening of an opulent and sensual note.
Darker, smokier, and spicier, this is Gris Charnel with the volume turned way up. This time, the cult favorite original scent has a fig note that plays in the background, while the notes of cardamom, vetiver, sandalwood, and tonka take center stage. Perfect for a sophisticated outing or an intimate night in, Gris Charnel Extrait is the scent to make a statement.

Gris Charnel did not disappoint! I can smell fig initially and then it settles as a woody scent with a touch of smoke. On me, it has a mild powder scent, but not overbearing or headachy. It's definitely unisex, but on me it isn't too masculine to not wear. I, have also, sprayed vanilla scent to layer and it's amazing. I want a full bottle of Gris Chanel.
Leans masculine and nothing special. I definitely wouldn’t want a full bottle.
Great winter to early spring sent. Powerful great nighttime scent.
I think whether you consider this "woody" or not depends on the type of fragrance you usually wear. I tend to wear almost exclusively fall and winter fragrances, with strong wood and spice profiles, that lean heavily masculine. So, for me, this felt like a nice, lighter break from those notes, but still with a woody base. There is a complexity to this fragrance that has you wanting to spray it again and again. The lighter notes make it suitable for daytime wear and give it a lovely green, floral top note without being cloying or overly sweet. The dry down is deeper. I am strongly considering a full bottle, which I did not expect.
If you love Gris Charnel you'll love this one! Gris Charnel with more depth to it. Warm, cozy; I also get fig on this one but smokier. great for winter.
Such a beautiful fragrance! I love the edp and love this one just as much!
Beautiful fragrance! Warm, smoky, and with just a hint of green and floral undertone. It is not a musk fragrance, but as someone who usually gravitates towards musky, 'your skin but better' fragrances, I really enjoyed this. Unfortunately have to dock a star, just because it turned out I am allergic to it, and won't be able to use it. If you are not allergic, I definitely recommend giving this one a try if you enjoy sultry smoky fragrances with more of a unisex vibe.
Smells great!!!
I have the EDP and the Extrait is different. It's a bit more masculine leaning but still nice.
It’s a good fragrance but definitely masculine leaning to me. It smells amazing with my man’s chemistry so he wears it. It is warm and can be over used. But the projection isn’t loud, but heavy if that makes sense. It’s really interesting. I like it a lot for him!
Absolutely stunning. I got the extrait mistakenly thinking it was the original Gris Charnel that is going viral, but I'm so happy I picked this instead. It's warm, creamy, woody, spicy, just a gorgeous unisex scent. It leans slightly more fem on me, and is the perfect cold weather scent. I am OBSESSED.
not as good as the original to my nose. more masculine leaning.
This scent is incredible. The longer you wear it the creamier and smooth it gets. I love how it’s a subtle spice you get at the initial spray and the dry down takes its time while transitioning into a more warm/cozy type of scent, almost like a velvet blanket type vibe. I am obsessed!
Love it!
I love this! But for me, I love extremely feminine fragrances only. Unisex is definitely not something I look for. I would say this would be great on a man, but maybe layering it a bit with another cologne, such as creed vetiver. I am going to try and layer this with my BR Just to see if that lifts up the heavy sandalwood and smoky spicy scent at the base note for more of a sweeter kick. It’s definitely for winter, regardless! One little spray, and it stays longer than 8 hours. My body usually doesn’t hang on to a scent too long at all but this one does. All in all a very unique and pleasant scent.
Hard to believe the OG could get better but it does. Think of Gris Charnel as the day version and Extrait as the night. A little stronger but not overwhelming. Kind of a sexy sister to the original. Definitely worth having both IMO.
This is my first shipment. I'm coming from a competitor's subscription service, and I couldn't be happier. I specifically chose this one because I love extraits. I spray it once on my bare chest, then press (not rub!) my wrists against it. Can smell it on my wrists even after working in a factory. Yes, I wear it daily. I am post-covid, and my sense of smell never came back correctly. I can't detect most musky scents anymore. For perspective, the smell of a skunk now smells like a hog farm to me. I'm missing notes. I'm not terribly fond of the initial smell of this cologne. To me, it is reminiscent of tires burning in the distance. Please don't let that turn you off, though, because it changes within 30 minutes. It becomes this warm and smoky thing, and I'm pretty sure it's the patchouli I'm getting. But. Omg the vanilla. I don't understand how a scent can smell warm. The vanilla is what I detect and what sits with me for the next 8 to 10 hours. Try this cologne.
Smell is great. You can smell the difference in the Extrait. It’s great.
Beautiful woody, warm, spicy, smoky.
I love the smell but it is VERY heavy and lasted forever. I felt like I had to scrub this scent off my body. Definitely a winter scent, I’ll re-visit this then.
I really like this one but I would probably prefer to mix it with my favorite perfume instead of using it alone. It’s a nice scent but it feels like there is something missing ? If you like more musky and soft scents, then this is definitely for you
Gris Charnel Extrait smells so good I will be purchasing a full bottle expeditiously!
Incredible!!
Strong! Heavy lavender, but softens in the drydown. Elegant and refined. Great blend, but strong personality
Omg! This is so effortlessly sexy. It plays very nicely with skin chemistry and has a luxurious herbal note that’s linear through the waves of tea, fig, tonka bean and sandalwood. I pick up on much of the cardamom but I don’t mind that. I’m also not much of a patchouli fan but it’s SO well done in this one that I almost crave it now. 11/10.
Really lovely but better suited to a friend I gave it to.
Not bad but not for me. I’m curious if the EDP version would smell more like the profile I was hoping for.
This is a smooth, creamy, mysterious, and dark fragrance. This is a true unisex fragrance that could be feminine on a lady, and masculine on a guy. This is supposed to be a popular black tea fragrance, but for me I don’t really get the tea note so much. That could be a good thing because the tea note smells feminine to me. This fragrance lasts about 8 hours on me and only projected moderately for myself. It’s good and I love the sandalwood in this. I smell this more towards the end of the fragrance life. 10/10 for me.
This scent isn't for me, the date note is the main one that comes through, and it's very syrupy
I like the original way more than this one. It smells good but it feels much more masculine to me than the original. It's nice but it isn't for me.
This was not for me. Very feminine, Unpleasant smelling... might be the fig note(?). Only fragrance I've ever returned for an exchange.
Sexy Scent. Takes the OG to new levels.
Opening is a very woody scent, dry down is more pleasant. might have to wear it a couple times to decide if you like it.
This is great fragrance. I recommend this for casual and formal wear.
I got this at the absolutely worst time. This is an absolute winter scent, but for my first scentbox scent I just went by scents I was interested in instead of seasonality. I wore this once and stashed it away, but it is a HEAVY scent. It has very decent projection, and even lasted roughly 8 hours on my sweaty skin. I can't say my girlfriend was a fan, but I did get many compliments from older men and women (in their late 30s-40s).
