BDK Parfums
Tonka bean is an ingredient full of contrasts, sometimes reminiscent of vanilla leather, sometimes of almonds, sometimes even revealing chocolatey facets. Velvet Tonka is characterized by its trilogy of tonka bean, orange blossom and almond. It coats the skin like a delicacy dusted with icing sugar. The balmy tonka bean is adorned with almonds and rose petals for a velvety touch, and with a hint of tobacco absolute to give it a honeyed feel. In the base, addictive notes of milky amyris wood unfurl, enhanced by ambroxan and vanilla absolute for an unparalleled velvetiness and sensuality.
Velvet Tonka is a tribute to the Moroccan origins of founder David Benedek and to the iconography associated with the region through its flavors and its landscapes, like a sweet, indulgent breeze coming straight from the Atlas Mountains.

Love this fragrance. Nice for winter. A warm fresh beautiful scent.
Love this one, this almond is still gourmand but very wearable. Opens just a tad dense and powdery but eases into a more woody, smooth and cozy smell. I find it to be unisex, moderate projection and lasts about 6 hours on me. Very anodyne even if over sprayed.
This is such an underrated scent. If you love Babycat and Lune Feline, give this a try. I didn’t love it at first spray because it seemed very powdery. After a few weeks I tried it again and it had mellowed to the perfect leathery vanilla. Gorgeous and perfectly unisex.
Well blended and projects nicely.
I love this. It is unusual. Great for Fall and winter. Musky and powdery. I would gave given 5 stars but there is a slight weird medicine synthetic kinda smell. It does go away though.
I really like this one although I still prefer rouge smoking and grid charnel. Still big bottle worthy. BDK is a new love for me??
I really wanted to love this one based on the reviews but on my skin, this is some of the worst perfumes I have tried. It comes off as a sanitized hospital and cleaning supplies. I asked 4 people to smell and give their honest opinion and each one looked like they spelt something ungodly. Unfortunately, this was a return.
This fragrance was not what I thought it was. It definitely gives a sexy date night vibe. The fragrance did turn heads and I received a lot of compliments.
Not my taste
I really like this. At first it can smell a tad "mature" as powdery frags can, but then it just settles into a cozy, almond hug. It doesn't smell like it persay, but gives the vibe of like VS Heavenly. Just super warm and cozy
I loved it so much that I bought a full size bottle. It is strong, but if you like tonka bean and almond, you’ll like it. It’s a sweet fragrance
Smells like gas station bathroom hand soap.
Like most people I’ve seen review this, it definitely grows on you. Especially the longer it dries down. It’s very in your face and almond forward at first but dries down to a very intoxicating but sophisticated scent. This is the kind of perfume I’d wear to the office to catch attention without screaming vixen. Definitely more mature, classy, sweet scent but very powdery. The tobacco does add a nice hit of smokiness that isn’t overwhelming and brings it back from the powder a little bit. I wouldn’t reach for this before going out clubbing but rather before like a wedding or something sophisticated. Gives rich woman going into a 5 star hotel vibes. Gives girl boss CEO heading into a meeting.
I am actually surprised that I loved this one. The tonka shines here for me and plays beautifully on my skin - mixes beautifully with the almond. It is a gourmand without feeling edible to me - the florals help balance it. Sweet and smooth. Playful, sexy and cozy. It is a perfect perfume for fall/winter (I live in Florida and we dont get very cold). I dont think this is a safe blind buy - you will have to test on your skin and see how it meshes with your chemistry. This one works one me.
Absolutely love this perfume!
I wanted to love this scent so much. I enjoy several from BDK including Tabac Rose (a favorite), Gris Charnel, and Rouge Smoking, but Velvet Tonka just doesn’t work for me. The amber accord causes this to smell like industrial bathroom disinfectant. Needless to say I was not pleased with this scent, I was very disappointed. I can not recommend Velvet Tonka, but please note this is just my opinion.
This is my newest obsession. It took me a few wears to fully get this fragrance, but once I did - I became obsessed. Already ordered the full-size. It is like an oriental-gourmand. Not foodie. The tonka is gorgeous and is the star of the show, as named. Not loud, but not too light - just right to be an everyday scent. This is my new signature scent. It's my favorite BDK out of the dozen or so I've tried.
Very pretty don’t think this is too offensive. Had to wear it a few times to really appreciate it and the scent is really growing on me and become in a nice pretty cozy scent
I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I was really excited to get it. I don't dislike it, but I get a Play-Doh smell sometimes from it. I'll keep it, but I won't be buying it.
This has to grow on me. I think of all of my BDK fragrances, this is the one I did not fall in love with at first sniff. It has potential with layering but I’ll let it macerate and revisit.
Not for me. I have come to learn that almond forward fragrance is not my cup of tea. This smells like dior hypnotic poison to my untrained nose. Both give me a headache.
Doesn't have great longevity. Reminds me of Jergens lotion. Pretty but not really my kind of fragrance.
Upon the first spray I could really smell the almond. That creamy powdery scent. Really reminds me of Kenzo Amour at first. Then it developed into something more complex. The tobacco and Tonka bean. Almost smelled a little cocoa, but I think that's just the Tonka. As it dried down I could smell the amber more. After 6 hours my skin smells like vanilla. Longevity is moderate Not too much projection. I would personally wear this perfume as a daytime everyday scent. But I tend to like what other people call "grandma" scents. I tried it only today and the weather isn't too warm yet so I'll wear it when it gets warmer again.
Wayyy too powdery for me, but I can see someone liking it.
Not sure what it is, but doesn’t jive with my body chemistry and it gives me a little bit of a headache. It’s very similar to rouge smoking but without the cherry. Not for me but I appreciate it. Mod to strong projection and longevity.
Velvet tonka …the name fits the fragrance. What an easy reach ! Almond tonka and bourbon vanilla ! Soft ..not sweet . Cozy ! FBW
I didn't love it at first, although I thought I would based on the notes. It's giving playdoh on my skin. But the more I wear it, the more I like it. So 3 stars for now.
Beautiful scent, super feminine and sexy. It can be worn for any occasion. Definitely will be worn during the fall months.
This is a beautiful scent. Upon the initial spray it smell like warm vanilla with a hint of playdough. Yes you read right... playdough. Which isn't bad it just a little surprising. The playdough smell last only a few seconds as it drys down you get a bit of vanilla and licorice. It smells amazing. If you enjoy gourmand scent. Then this fragrance is for you.
I'm here for it! It's a little reminiscent of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille but not as strong. Upon initial spray the Tobacco and bourbon vanilla hit you in the nose but then it dies down to a nice Amber Almond finish... would've been 5 stars but lacked originality
Powdery sweet scent. Not just for colder months, but I think I'd wear it more then. Long lasting.
It is unique. It starts with bitter almond, and turn into a powdery vanilla scent. It is very nutty and warm, bitter and sweet at the same time.
I really didn’t enjoy this one. Super strong, medicinal and powdery almond note.
